Data Integration

A successful FM:Interact implementation should integrate and share data from and with different sources throughout your organization. This is accomplished by establishing the data source “owners”. A good example is integrating FM:Interact with the Human Resources database to get employee names, department, and other information. The IWMS system in turn will provide the employees location ID to the HR database. FM:Systems can help you link the FM:Interact to other systems in your organization to increase the effectiveness and distribute the benefits of your system.

Depending on your needs and business processes our consulting team has multiple ways of integrating with different systems. Anywhere from doing real-time links with MS SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to utilizing database triggers and stored procedures down to batch flat file integrations.

The highly configurable nature of FMI’s data structure makes it easy to map FMI to third-party applications’ schemas. That flexibility along with FMI’s data integration component simplifies the data integration process and eliminates the need for complicated middleware. All we require is a data feed, which could be a flat file source (.txt, .csv) or access to a database table/view, both of which are connected to via ODBC. For situations where the transformation or merging of different databases is required, we use the MS Enterprise ETL tool, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), to satisfy the client’s business requirements. Our Implementation team is fully versed in using these tools and have completed hundreds of interfaces / integrations with commercially available enterprise systems such as SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle and a host of other third party SQL based solutions including databases developed in-house by our customers.
